Lara Thompson is a writer and lecturer whose research focuses primarily on the relationship between cinema and photography. She completed her PhD at the University of London in 2010, supervised by Laura Mulvey. She recently completed a book on the aesthetic and emotional impact of light in film for the series Cinema Aesthetics (forthcoming, Manchester University Press).
She has taught film and photography courses at the University of Warwick, the University of Derby and the University of East London.
